Every season, and especially before summer or after the holiday season, the word "detox" appears in the media. And often, it's low-calorie diets aimed at losing weight that are promoted, rather than a real process of detoxifying the body.
Detoxing is, above all, a natural process carried out by our excretory organs, responsible for ridding the body of various waste products, and starving yourself won't help! Targeting the excretory organs with effective products to allow them to function better, while adopting a healthy lifestyle, THAT is a real detoxification cure.
What is a detox?
The kidneys and liver constantly filter the body's waste, and our intestines are responsible for removing it. But when these organs are overloaded by our consumption patterns and can no longer perform their role properly, the general state of health is disturbed: chronic fatigue , digestive problems, disturbed sleep ... The excretory organs must be stimulated to ensure good health. Doing a detox is a good way to help the body get rid of all the accumulated toxins that it has not had time to process. In other words, detox cures are not designed to lose weight, but to help target organs get back on track. Obviously, this is accompanied by a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet which, combined with a detox cure, can potentially help you lose a few extra pounds, but this is by no means the main objective.
How to do a detox?
If your excretory organs are no longer able to do the job on their own, then a detox treatment is essential. But how do you go about it? Don't jump in blindly; follow the guide ; we'll share some natural tips for successfully completing your detox.
1 - Eat well to detoxify the body
During a detox , we seek to stimulate the body to cleanse it thoroughly! And for this, we need to give it a little boost. The body needs a good balance between macronutrients (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). We therefore pay particular attention to the composition of our plate, following the nutritional recommendations.
Here again, we forget about restrictive diets that cause frustration and lead us to an uncontrollable yo-yo effect. We focus on:
- Maximum raw products
- Seasonal fruits and vegetables , providing fiber that regulates our feelings of hunger and satiety
- Complete meals that include protein, fat, and carbohydrates. To maintain the right balance, your plate should contain 1/4 protein, 1/4 starch, and 1/2 raw or cooked vegetables, with about the size of your thumb for added fat.
2 - Limit toxins to avoid overloading the body
To avoid endocrine disruptors and harmful substances that overload our excretory organs, we recommend eating as raw a diet as possible. We also try to cut down on alcohol and cigarettes, which have particularly harmful effects, especially on the liver.
3 - Hydrate well to drain the body
Once the organs have been rid of their toxins, the body must be drained to permanently expel them and stimulate the functioning of the kidneys, which eliminate waste carried by the blood by evacuating it in the urine. And for this, nothing is more effective than drinking water at a rate of at least 1.5L to 2L of water per day. You're going to tell us that you already knew this, and yet a third of French people avoid it by drinking less than 1 liter of water daily. So think about it!
4 - Practice physical activity to eliminate toxins
Physical activity is one of the most effective tools for promoting the proper functioning of the excretory organs, particularly the skin, which eliminates toxins through perspiration. You can stay in shape with a minimum of 6,000 steps and small exercises to do daily, which can be supplemented by short 30-minute sports sessions to repeat 2 to 3 times a week. Do you work too much? Don't have time to go to the gym? Can't afford a personal trainer? There are plenty of easy and free tips!
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator
- If you are taking public transport, get off a few stops earlier.
- Forcing yourself to walk at least 2-3 minutes every hour is a good reason to go drink water and allow better blood circulation
5 - Use herbal medicine to detox
All year round, waste and toxins accumulate in the body and impair its proper functioning. An unhealthy diet, alcohol, stress, or medication gradually clog up our bodies until they can no longer be eliminated. Certain plants have draining and detoxifying properties and can help your body rid itself of these accumulated toxins.
Through all these tips you will be able to detoxify the body from the inside and the outside to ultimately regain peak vitality, a toned figure, a pretty complexion, beautiful hair, all positive things in short!
